What is in the Response Pack

The free misconduct process navigator shows you where you are in the published process and which deadlines are real. The Response Pack is what you use once you want to keep your own case file. It is ten tabs, designed to be used at your own pace.

Case file and timeline. Choose where you are, which service you work in and, if you wish, the kind of concern. The timeline carries over any dates you entered in the free navigator, and works out only the deadlines that are published: the 15 working day appeal against an Exclusions Register decision, the employment tribunal limit with Acas early conciliation, the qualifying service for ordinary unfair dismissal, and the indicative investigation targets from the last public text of the policy. Anything unpublished is labelled as such.

Evidence and chronology builder. Record what happened, when, where and who was present, in time order, and say how you know each thing: you saw it, you did it, you were told, it is in a document, or you are unsure. The builder flags words that read as opinion or speculation, notes entries not backed by a record and exports to CSV or a printable page. It is for your own honest account. It never suggests removing or reshaping anything, and it tells you not to alter an original record.

Preparation checklists. A checklist for each of eight situations: an informal meeting, an investigation interview, a suspension meeting, a police interview under caution, a disciplinary hearing, an appeal, receiving an outcome and preparing for Acas or a tribunal step. Each covers before, during and afterwards, and your progress is saved.

Statement structuring worksheet. Eight prompts that separate context, what you saw or heard, what you did, what was said, what you were told, what you do not remember, relevant records and mitigation. A neutral-language check highlights absolute words, certainty words, accusations and guesses so you can discuss them with your representative. It never rewrites your words, and it is explicitly not a statement to send until a representative has read it.

Questions bank. Twenty-six questions across representation, evidence, suspension, police matters, health, pay and pension, outcomes and appeals, and tribunal claims, each marked as one for your POA representative or solicitor or one to put to HR or the investigator. Tick the ones you want, add notes and print or copy the list.

Pension and finance estimator. Enter your age, pensionable pay and years in alpha, or your annual pension from a benefit statement, and see in today's money what staying to normal pension age would build compared with employment ending now, the early-claim reductions at each age and the pay you would forgo over a gap between jobs. The assumptions are yours and all editable. It uses the published scheme rules: a 2.32% accrual, a two-year qualifying period for a preserved pension, a minimum pension age of 55 rising to 57 from April 2028, and the published position that dismissal alone does not forfeit alpha benefits.

Support signposting. Samaritans, the Acas helpline, your POA branch, the HMPPS staff support services and Occupational Health, with a plain note that struggling is common. AI helper. Ask questions grounded in your timeline and chronology. Printable briefing. One document with your key dates, chronology, preparation status, statement worksheet, chosen questions, pension summary, support and sources, ready to take to your representative.

What the pack will not do

It will not tell you that you will keep or lose your job, predict a sanction or say how likely any outcome is. Nobody can, and a tool that pretended to would be doing you harm. It will not tell you to hurry, and it does not use fear to sell. It will not help hide, change or destroy evidence, influence witnesses or mislead an investigation, and the AI helper is built to refuse those requests. It will not give legal advice or replace your POA representative or a solicitor. It does not use invented statistics or testimonials, because there are none to show: the only numbers on this page are the ones you enter.

It is also honest about the state of the rules. The England and Wales discipline policy, PSI 06/2010, is not published on GOV.UK. The partial copy of the 2013 text we could read stops after the investigation section, and the sections on suspension, hearings, penalties and appeals are not public. The Government said on 9 July 2026 that the new policy is close to being finalised. So the pack shows each point with a label: published, published in the 2013 text, seen in one tribunal case, or not published. Where something is unpublished it tells you what to ask for in writing.

Privacy comes first

A conduct case is among the most sensitive things you will ever write down. So what you enter is stored in your browser on your device. If you choose to create a free account after buying, your case file can also be saved to it, protected by rules that allow only you to read it, and you can delete it, including the account copy, at any time. We never put what you type into analytics. The only thing that leaves your browser is what you choose to send when you press Ask in the AI helper: your question plus a short summary of your timeline dates and recent chronology entries, so the answer is grounded in your case. Avoid names and details you would not want shared with an AI service. The page repeats this wherever it matters.

Who it is for, and when to use it

It is for prison officers and other prison staff in England and Wales, with comparators for Scotland and Northern Ireland, who have been told about a concern, an investigation, a suspension, an interview, a hearing, an outcome, an appeal, a dismissal or are thinking about resigning. The earlier you start your timeline and chronology, the more accurate they are. If you are at the very start, read misconduct explained and what to expect from an investigation. If you have been suspended read suspension explained. If a hearing is listed, read the disciplinary hearing and the right to be accompanied. After an outcome, read appealing an outcome and unfair dismissal and tribunals. After a dismissal read what happens next and misconduct and your pension.

Join the POA before you need it. Its Legal Advice Scheme handbook says assistance is not provided for proceedings that started, or were under investigation, before a new or re-joining member joined, and the handbook is undated, so confirm the current rule with the POA. Read POA representation in disciplinary cases for how that works. The wider conduct and discipline hub covers each stage and topic.

Price, payment and refund

One payment of £29 for the Response Pack. No subscription and no renewal. Payment is by Stripe. You do not need an account to buy, and access is remembered in your browser; an optional free account lets you open it elsewhere. 14-day money-back guarantee, no questions asked: email hello@prisonofficerpay.co.uk within 14 days and we will refund you in full. Your statutory rights under UK consumer law are not affected: see the terms.

The free navigator lets you see where you are and your deadlines at no cost, and you get one free AI answer there to see how it works. If a representative, the POA or your employer provides better organised material, use that. This pack is independent: it is not affiliated with HMPPS, the Ministry of Justice, the POA or any union, and it is not legal advice.

Response Pack FAQs

What is the Misconduct & Discipline Response Pack?

A private, structured workspace for someone going through a conduct or discipline process. It holds your personal timeline and deadline calculator, a chronology builder, preparation checklists for each kind of meeting, a facts-only statement worksheet, a bank of questions for your POA representative or solicitor, a pension and finance impact estimator, wellbeing and support signposting, an AI helper grounded in your timeline and a printable briefing. It organises your own information. It is not legal advice and it does not predict outcomes.

Does it replace my POA representative or a solicitor?

No, and it is designed to send you to them sooner and better prepared. The pack tells you at every stage to speak to your POA representative or a solicitor, and its questions bank is written to be taken to them. It cannot advise on your case, argue it for you or know the policy version that applies to you.

Where is my information stored?

In your browser on this device. If you create an optional free account after buying, your case file can also be saved to your account so you can open it on another device, protected by rules that let only you read it. Nothing else is sent anywhere. The AI helper receives a question and a summary of your timeline and recent entries only when you press Ask. We never put what you type into analytics, and you can delete everything, including the copy in your account, with one button.

Do I need an account to buy or use it?

No. Guest checkout works and your purchase is remembered in this browser. An account is entirely optional and offered only after you buy, for access on other devices and cloud saving.

What is the refund policy?

A 14-day money-back guarantee, no questions asked. Email hello@prisonofficerpay.co.uk within 14 days of purchase and we will refund you in full. Your statutory rights under UK consumer law are not affected. See the terms page for the detail.

Will the AI helper help me hide evidence or contact witnesses?

No. It refuses any request to destroy, hide or alter evidence, influence or intimidate witnesses or complainants, or mislead an investigation, and points you to honest, properly supported ways to respond. It also will not predict outcomes or sanctions and always recommends speaking to your POA representative or a solicitor.

Is the information up to date, given the policy is being rewritten?

The pack is built on what is published as at 3 October 2026 and says so everywhere. The England and Wales policy PSI 06/2010 is not published on GOV.UK and the Government said on 9 July 2026 that its replacement is close to being finalised. Where something is unpublished the pack says so rather than guessing, and asks you to get dates and rules from HR in writing.

I work in Scotland or Northern Ireland. Is it for me?

The timeline, chronology, checklists, worksheet, questions and support tools work for anyone. The process pages show the published SPS or NIPS code as a comparator for your service. The pension estimator uses Great Britain Civil Service alpha rules, which also cover SPS staff, and it warns Northern Ireland officers that their NICS scheme is separate.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. It is designed to be read slowly on a phone, including the printable briefing, which you can save as a PDF from your browser.
